The first step that you do is you find the picture you want to carve then draw it on a piece of paper. Next, you shade the other side of the paper then you go back to the side of the paper you drew your picture on and trace it onto the Linoleum but you have to press hard. Once your picture is on the Linoleum, you can now start to carve. After you have what you want carved out you then put paint onto the Linoleum and print it onto a piece of paper a couple of times. You then wash off the Linoleum then carve anything else you want cut out then out a different color of paint on it and print that on the other color print. Then you are done! Why did you decide on the design you did? What meaning does it have to you or how does it relate to your interest? Well, I really have a craving for basketball and it is by far my favorite sport so I thought I would make a basketball. What did you learn from your printmaking project? I learned how to carve better and be more precise! What did you like most about printmaking? I just really enjoyed the whole thing! I enjoyed carving the most better it got intense and scary when I was about to cut myself!;) What did you like least about printmaking? I didn't like how you had to worry about cutting your finger because it really hurts and bleeds pretty bad. I think somehow we could make it safer. Maybe by wearing gloves or mittens or something like that to be safe! |
